SAN FRANCISCO TRAILS, BEACHES AND HIKES

Your outdoor excursions are endless in San Francisco. Discover Lovers Lane in the Presidio, bike the trail along Crissy Field, hike the Crosstown Trail, the longest trail in San Francisco, or dip your feet in the Pacific Ocean at Baker Beach. Walk up the Filbert Stairs to Coit Tower and discover quaint homes and vista points, that are only accessible on foot. NEIGHBORING COUNTIES

Just across the Golden Gate Bridge, in the Marin Headlands, you will find the Historic Fort Cronkhite offering a beach and hillsides with fantastic views and trails. Luckily, we are only a short drive from Sonoma where you can visit the Historic Jack London’s House or enjoy a hot air balloon ride. Or, follow Highway One south and see one of the most spectacular coastlines, while passing many perfect surfing spots on your way to Santa Cruz.

PARKS

San Francisco is home to the Golden Gate Park. This park is known for its many trails, museums, arboretum and wildlife such as the Bison. Stop at Mission Dolores Park and take in the breathtaking Mission Dolores from the late 1700s, or go to the Presidio, the former military base, or just steps from the hotel, you’ll find the San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park, including many historic vessels.

FISHERMAN’S WHARF

This historical part of San Francisco gets its name from the city’s early days of the mid to later 1800s when fishermen came to support the influx of people seeking their wealth during the gold rush. Today, it still has a small fishing fleet and is home to Pier 39, Red & White Fleet, Ghirardelli Square, the Historic Cable Car turnarounds and Boudin Bakery, famous for its sourdough breads, Alcatraz Landing with tours to the world famous formerly Alcatraz Penitentiary, not to mention restaurants featuring delicious foods of all kinds. All is located within approximately 0.5 miles of the hotel.

Let us know if you are interested in discovering the urban outdoors, or whale watching by boat or from land, or hike one of the many mountain tops in the Bay Area. We have partnered with Love Tours and the San Francisco Walking Tour companies. They both have local experts specializing in small intimate tours that will take you places where the busses cannot go. Our favorite hikes include a 2 mile walk along the waterfront from the Maritime National Historic Park, through Fort Mason, along Marina Green, past the yachts anchored in their berths, to the Palace of Fine Arts constructed in 1915 for the Panama-Pacific Exposition for art.
